The air up there.

What's good, here we are again and I shouldn't have left you without a dope beat to step to. A lot to say, a lot going on this week, a lot to get off this chest of mine.

Let's start with The President, in the annagural anniversery of Katrina. It seems like so long ago, yet just yesterday (oxy moron) that we witnessed one of the greatest tragedys on US soil. After watching Spike Lee's amazing documentary on HBO I realized even more how devistating this country can be when it comes to the basic needs of its citizens. It was astounding how long it took for the federal governmant to respond to such a crisis, making you question where our priorties as a country are really at. Now all of these questions have already been asked and debated but they all have seem to come full swing. In reading a New York Times article headlined Bush’s Shift of Tone on Iraq: The Grim Cost of Losing. In an amazing PR attempt to make up for all of the wrong doing over the last two years The President tries now to change the perspective of the war in Iraq. The Presidents top commander quoted as saying "if we leave, they will follow us", like a stirred bees nest ready for attack. As much as the Commander and Chief preaches democracy, freedom, and liberation what have we done to free a people that before were possibly more peaceful than their current situation. Our position in Iraq has only made the situation worse, it has only sparked the Isralei/Lebanon conflict and put us in an awkward situation with defiant Iran. The article furthermore compares The Presidents recent shift in tone to that of Lyndon B. Johnson during the Vietnam war, another American foreign policy failure. Where "big brother" tries to extend his reach to far, and get's burnt in the process. The only thing that truly differs from then to now, is the fact that the youth that were strongly criticizing and marching againts the war have strongly fallen away. We're too caught up with the entertainment and amusment that has so easily distracted us from what is really going on. Now im not going to sit here and preach and say that I have not been a victim of this as well. But we have to wake up sometime, and this it feels sometimes is my only outlet. Holla if you hear me!
Enough said.

Shall we continue with the Amusment:

I found this article interesting as well - Opium Harvest at Record Level in Afghanistan

A small history on Opium.

Alright enough with all foreign policy and foregin relations. God willing it get's better, but I think its going to get worse before.

I.e. watch Syrania.

With all that being said the current state of streetwear is an amazing movement. (Check the steez of Bobby Hundreds and the current state of streetwear.) Yet what are we saying besides, by this all over print hoodie, and these fresh kicks. On an independent entrepeneurial level its an amazing revolution. All these young kids taking their culture in their own hands and pushing it to the next level. Yet on a sociopolitical level what are we saying besides buy more product. We have such power, how do we begin to use it?

Now on a more personal tip. God bless the child that's got his own. Sometimes you have to step away to come back to certian things, sometimes things like that help you appreciate your situation, life, and loved ones even more. Sometimes you have to pay your dues to push you self to that next level. I once had a basketball coach that said if your not pushing yourself to make mistakes while doing drills than your not really improving, and its true sometimes we don't push ourselves as far as we need to go and that's becuase we get comfortable with where we are at.

Jeff Staple recently dropped this Jewel on his blog:

And finally, a lil fortune cookie thought to leave you for the Labor Day weekend. I was reading a fitness/workout magazine about doing some training and I read this tidbit that not only pertains to your training regiment, but also to life in general: (I quote word for word):
If you're just doing things in the moment and not reflecting on how you could do them better, it's very unlikely you'll improve. The takeaway: Focus on technique, even during playtime. Mindless participation is not enough.
Knowing you're doing something wrong isn't the same as doing it right. Once you've isolated problem areas, think about how you can avoid repeating mistakes. Performance gains come by recognizing flaws you'd like to pretend don't exist.

Word. Is. Bond.

I think that's enough said.

No picture's this week...sorry.

Peace

P.S. Fre$h & Proper 06' Fall/Winter 06' coming soon.
